Twisted sound is a ported speaker sculpted from MDF and fitted with wharfedale drivers.
Making Of
The initial idea was to create a ported speaker with a twisted “extrusion” feature. Following some initial sketches, I built up the general shape using MDF and started removing material with chisels, rasps and files. The top “cone” uses kerfing to make the plywood curve.
Following many days of filling, filing and sanding, I primed and painted the body using Farrow and Ball paint. The inside is painted with cobalt blue spray paint.
Final Outcome
The whole process took 100 hours of work.
